2015 - Decision on Alexandra Gardens Trees contested

The executive Councillor responsible for the decision, Cllr O'Reilly, has issued the instruction to cut the trees as soon as possible. However, Alexandra Gardens Trees Group is of the opinion that this decision was made in error. We are therefore proceeding, reluctantly, to question this via legal channels. A pre-action protocol letter was issued on March 6th; the first step in an application for a Judicial Review of the decision to cut the trees. We believe the Council has a strong case to fight these insurance claims and should do so.

We will keep readers updated as events progress.

Once again, we should reiterate that we take this action very reluctantly. We simply want Cambridge City Council to recognise the importance of these trees and to fight the insurance claims robustly.
